Thriving and blooming
Academic support at every stage
Home education is not for the faint hearted but neither does it have to be second choice. Academically, your child can thrive outside of the rigid inflexibility of the school system, as well as learning how to manage their own workload, build up their abilities in time management, choose the subjects and style of learning that suits them - all while gaining the qualifications they might need to go forward into college, university or the workplace.
Whether you’re interested in project based learning, unschooling learning, structured learning, qualification support or anything to do with the academics of home education - I am here to support you and your child.
Some of my support:
Resource guidance to save you wasting your money
Advice on all things exam related, including curricula, specifications etc.
Day to day advice for planning and implementing learning at home
Troubleshooting support for those times when it’s all going a bit wrong!
And much more.
I am here by your side, no matter what your challenge, and will be there to ensure that you and your child flourish through your home education journey.
What you can expect:
MSc Psychotherapy
Experienced and accredited coach
Trained teacher
Monthly 90 minute 1:1 call
Full session notes
Between session support, including emergency support
I offer a monthly session to deep dive into your academics and plan for the month ahead. Together, we will reflect on where you are and what challenges you have faced, as well as prepping together for the month ahead for you and your child. This will be followed up by full notes for you to use for the month ahead.
We will have between session support to see how you are doing, troubleshoot any issues or just to provide some accountability to keep you on track!
I also offer emergency priority appointments for all my clients, just in case you need urgent help with an issue.
This full month of academic support and planning is £100, including the 90 minute call, full notes detailing what we have planned, as well as between session support.
How I Can Help
Every parent’s journey is unique.
Here are just a few examples of ways I help home educating parents navigate the academics of home learning.
CURRICULUM SUPPORTSome parents want to follow the curriculum, even if only loosely.
I offer my clients fun, engaging and age appropriate ways to map across to the UK curriculum but in a way that engages with your child’s current interests.
Whether it is helping you with ideas for History sessions based on Minecraft or English lessons looking at The Simpsons, I am here to help you think of those fun, engaging and outside the box ways to tick off the curriculum, at any age.
EXAM SUPPORTSome children (and parents) want to go for the standard UK qualifications, while others are looking for alternatives that might suit their child better.
I can help you with GCSEs, IGCSEs, NVQs, EPQs, High School Diplomas and more.
From choosing the subjects, the timings and the location to guiding you through revision prep and what to expect on the day - I have been there and got the t-shirt!
Together, we can set your child up for success in a way that feels meaningful to them.
TROUBLESHOOTINGSometimes the academics just aren’t working. Whether it is because of a mismatch of expectations, a change in circumstance, a dis-engaged child or bruises from the school experience. Whatever it is, it’s hard if you feel your child isn’t engaging with their learning.
I combine my skills as a therapist with my knowledge of home education to find out what the problem might be and we work together to think of ways to resolve it.
It can feel a lonely place when it’s not working - it doesn’t have to be.
